We have finally made it to February. The days are getting lighter. The gray of never-ending January might be lifting for you. I hope it is.
But it's a strange time of year I think.
It was all hurry up and rush through the holidays, and then drudge through January and all the heartache and chaos that came with it, and now what?
We can dream of sunny days, the sun to shine on us, and all we would like to do. We can look back at January and think 'ugh I didn't follow through on this, I should have done that'.
This can be a weird little time where we might be feeling a little disconnected. A little direction less. We might be thinking of all the things we're supposed to be doing or what we should be doing.
It can be a lot. Just like it always is.
I'm calling these the inbetweeny times. For me it's right now, but for you it could be every other Thursday, it doesn't matter. It's a feeling like waiting in the exam room for your annual appointment, you're not sure what you should be doing or how soon you'll be waiting.
This is a perfect time for these 3 practices.
1.REMEMBER YOU HAVE UNLIMITED PERMISSION
I think during strange days when we're in our heads too much it can feel like we're waiting for someone to tell us what we should do, or that maybe, even as grown ass women, we are looking for permission for something.
When we remember we always have permission to do whatever we want (also remembering there are consequences), it can be like a weight off of our shoulders.
2.CHANNEL YOUR FAVORITE POWERFUL ELDER WOMAN
Crone energy is real. These are the ladies who have lived and DNGAF. Think of Betty White or Jane Fonda and consider what they would tell you to do in your situation.
3.ROOT YOURSELF TO THE DEPTHS OF THE EARTH
If your head is filling up with thoughts like helium in a balloon, it can be a good idea to remember that you are connected to the earth. Doing a grounding exercise like I go through in today's episode of the podcast can be really helpful, just to recognize where you are right at this moment.
I hope you find this helpful, if so please share it with someone you think would enjoy it as well, because we're doing this Side by Side.
Until next week,
xo
