Are you a visual person? Maybe you like to write things down or narrate your day in your head.

Over the past few years, things have been… well… less than ideal at times, to say the least. Sure there have been plenty of good times and lots of things to be grateful for, but like everyone, there were times were I was looking around at my surroundings and thinking ‘How did I get here’ (and not in a good way). But I could see a future, in my head and on my Pinterest boards. Some people call it daydreaming but I call it a form of divination with a dash of manifestation.

Now I am in a much better place, both physically and mentally. I am in a house that WILL (someday) be a dream house in an area that I love with friends I WILL (someday) have. In the actual physical realm of where I am, there is a very unfinished house with LOTS of good bones that need repairing and a piece of property that needs LOTS of love. There are moments I look around and feel daunted and go down the rabbit hole of ‘this will never get done… I can’t do this… what were we thinking… ‘, those are not great days.

Then there are other days where I can see a blank wall and a dusty corner and I can squint my eyes and envision how I want it to be. Right now as I’m typing this I am staring at a poorly painted wall (completed by yours truly) that is just WAITING for a Christmas Tree and then eventually a whole entertainment system and electric fireplace and live edge wooden shelves and brass hardware and a vase with eucalyptus and, and, and, on and on and on… That’s the vision, that is the future that I am creating.

I have no idea when that will be done. I have no idea how exactly it will get done, but I have that future. It already exists.

You can create fan fiction, an alternate universe (we talked about the dangers of this before so tread lightly) but you can journal, paint, color, or Pin the life you want.

For me, right now, I can squint my eyes at a space and while I’m squinting I’m imagining how it feels to be there, what’s the temperature of the room, how I feel there, how other people feel when they walk through there, what activities are happening. The future is being created.

There are all these Matrix theories out there that we could be in a simulation, I don’t know about any of that, but I do think we have the power to make a rough draft of how we want our future to be. I also think that we have the power to make our own spiderverse/butterfly effect based on our choices. So even if we aren’t exactly thrilled with our surroundings at the moment and how things are going and maybe we can pinpoint one place where we think we fucked it all up, we could consider how the alternate universe version of us is thriving.

I digress, let’s stick with the future we’re currently in.

Here is your assignment. Take one small part of your day-to-day life, it doesn’t matter what, just something you can see as a tiny seed of your life, a seed that you would like to imagine blossoming into the most beautiful flowering tree you can imagine.

So you have that idea, it’s a wall, a room, a project, a child, a blank computer screen, a bank account, whatever. Now find the best way for you to see the future. Is it writing, using your visual imagination, narrating, painting, or whatever? Just spend 2 minutes with that and change your perspective of how that looks. How do you want it to look? How do you feel when you see it that way? How do you look when you see it that way? How are you acting when it is that way? What other things are different with this new future? Go on and on like you’re telling yourself that greatest bedtime story.

When things get hard and you feel like nothing is changing or going your way revisit this practice, hell do it every day.

That future is coming into view, the more you practice it the more you will be able to physically feel it within you. The easier it will be to act as if it is happening the clearer that vision will come.

I create my world

I see all the possibilities around me

I call the best results to come to me
